This is one of my favorite cocktails to make especially when serving a crowd. This peach Moscow mule recipe is versatile letting you put as much of your own spin on it as you’d like. Don’t get me wrong I still love a classic moscow mule cocktail with spicy ginger beer, it’s equally refreshing. But when you can find ripe juicy peaches at your local grocery store or farmer’s markets, put them to use.
Why is it called a Moscow Mule?
From the research I’ve seen, it’s because Vodka the main spirit is associated with Russia. And Ginger beer has a “kick like a mule.”
It can also sometimes be called a vodka buck.
When the drink is made with whiskey, they are called Kentucky bucks or mules.
What You’ll Need to Make Peach Mules
Cocktail Shaker – We are going to use this to shake up all of our ingredients, and give them a nice chill.
Jigger – Using a jigger ensures even measurements on your pours. I know I’m no bartender.
Muddler – This is used to mash up the peaches and release all of the flavor and juice into the vodka.
Copper Cup– put this in the freezer and your drink will be nice and icy for a hot day. But any favorite glassware of choice works.
Ingredients
2 oz plain vodka- or peach vodka
1 oz simple syrup
1 ripe peach slice
2 fresh limes, juiced
1 oz of peach juice or peach puree
1 can Ginger beer
Ginger Ale vs Ginger Beer
Ginger beer is a brewed and fermented beverage that is usually a non-alcoholic ginger beer. While Ginger ale is more like a soda that tastes like ginger.
Some top ginger beer brands are Fever Tree and Goslings.
How to Make a Peach Moscow Mule
Drop your peaches into your shaker, and start to muddle. When I muddle, I press down and twist to really break it up.
Next add in your fresh lime juice, vodka, and peach simple syrup.
Put the top on and give it a good shake to mix well.
Add ice to your glass and pour your drink over ice. Top with ginger beer and garnish with a lime wedge and a slice of fresh peach.
Make Ahead
Peach Mule Pitchers
For this one, where it says OZ, substitute with CUP if you are making drinks for a crowd.
Add a small can of peaches or 1 sliced peach for muddling.
Let chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours before serving.
How to Serve Mules
You can always place your glass or mug in the freezer to get cold beforehand. I just never think of it that far in advance.
A traditional Moscow mule is served in a copper cup or mug.
Grab an icy copper mug and start to assemble your drink.
Once your drink is in the glass, make it look pretty. Add some garnish.
Most Moscow Mules are garnished with fresh mint leaves. But that doesn’t seem fitting for this drink.
We’re going to garnish with peach slices and lime wheels.
If you want a more intense peach flavor, substitute the simple syrup for fresh peach puree or homemade peach syrup.
Peach Vodka and Peach Schnapps would be amazing in this recipe as well.
If you’re using frozen or fresh peaches, use a small blender.
